The advantages of parquet floors

Parquet floors in living rooms have been very popular since the 19th century. Even today, many residents of apartments and houses want a real parquet floor. No wonder, because a floor made of wood transforms any room into a cozy home and also brings many other advantages. For example, parquet floors are considered to be extremely durable and long-lasting, and they are also insulating and warm to the feet. Accordingly, a parquet floor is also well suited as a floor covering in the bathroom or for underfloor heating.

A parquet floor offers countless design possibilities. Whether as herringbone parquet, parquet with weave structure or single-strip parquet, the different types of wood and surfaces can be purchased in different variants. The color of the parquet can also be individually selected and designed. For example, ash, oak and birch wood are particularly suitable if residents want a light-colored floor. The wood of wenge, on the contrary, has a darker hue, and merbau goes into the reddish.

A parquet floor is easy to maintain. Dry cleaning and occasional cleaning with a damp cloth is usually sufficient. Felt glides attached to the furniture protect against scratches and scuff marks. However, if the floor is subject to heavy wear, polyurethane sealers are a good choice. The sealant, consisting of polyester resins, is very resistant and waterproof. If the parquet floor shows only minor damage, waxes and oils are usually sufficient to give the wood floor its special shine.
