Good thermal insulation due to energy saving pleated blinds

If you want to keep the heat in the interior of your house on cold days, you can achieve good results with the help of energy-saving pleated blinds attached to the windows. The installation of this additional insulation is suitable not only for single-glazed windows, but also optimizes the thermal protection in the interior with double or triple glazing. Compared to other window devices, such as thermal blinds or glass films, heat-insulating pleated blinds with thermal protection differ in their folded shape.

While the thermal protection function of straight-hanging fabrics, such as window blinds and films, is created by the reflection of thermal energy, the heat-insulating effect of window pleats is characterized by the two-layer construction. Thus, energy-saving pleated blinds consist of several honeycomb cells located one below the other, which are equipped with an air buffer. These air tubes ensure that the heat flow is delayed and the energy remains longer in the interior. Different manufacturers state that window pleats can save about 25 to 30 percent of thermal energy.

Heat-insulating pleated blinds are available in opaque and darkened versions. For those who want to achieve better energy saving results, the darkened version is the best choice. Especially if the honeycomb cells contain an aluminum layer. In order to achieve an optimal thermal protection effect, it is also important to ensure that the pleated blinds are properly mounted directly on the window sash or on the window rebate. In this way, the insulating layer is applied to the entire surface of the window and connects the window pane and the pleated fabric to form another heat-insulating protective layer. It is also recommended to make a custom-made product, through which the fabric overlaps on the sealing strips as well as on the sash frame.
