Tip: niches as storage space and decorative element

Niches and unused spaces in the apartment or house can serve as storage wonders with a little skill and imagination. With the right lighting or bright colors, rooms can also be visually enlarged and decoratively embellished. Whether they are blind spots by the stairs that can be transformed into a small home office or small recesses in the bathroom that serve as storage areas, niches can add a special touch to your home.

Thus, small niches in the bathroom can serve not only as a shelf for soap and shampoo, but also equipped with shelves and used as open cabinets for storing towels. Here it is advisable to use shelves made of glass, because they optimally repel splashing water. Niches can also be perfectly filled as shelf cabinets in the kitchen, living room or bedroom. Recessed wall niches can replace a night table next to the bed, and bay windows can be transformed into a cozy reading corner.

But not every niche has to be used as a storage area. If they are recessed walls in a room or semicircular wall niches, they can be emphasized with bright colors and give the room a special accent. The use of bright or colorful LED lights in the niches gives the rooms a homely ambience and creates a pleasant living atmosphere. Passages, chambers or stairways can also be converted and serve as plate shelves or be equipped with a small home bar.
