Study: New Work in Germany

Due to the effects of the Corona crisis, the world of work has changed rapidly. Many employees have had to work from home from now on and face new challenges. In the study "New Working in Germany - How Working Modes, Home Offices and Office Concepts are Changing" it becomes clear that the change to new office concepts will also be clearly felt after the crisis. The study was published by the research institute "Innofact" on behalf of the magazines "Stern" and "Schöner Wohnen". Other study partners include the furniture store "Vitra" and the digital new-work platform "Ovvice".

A total of 832 participants from small and medium-sized companies were surveyed. Of these, 413 were employees and 419 decision-makers from the office furniture sector. According to the study results, it was already clear before the crisis that the working world and its structures were facing changes. As a result of last year's home office experience and its sudden establishment, employees' demands on their working environment have also evolved.

On the one hand, the study looks into the question of what employees want in the new working world and what this should look like at best. For example, a large proportion of the employees surveyed aspire to a working week with three home office days and two days of presence in the office. Managers were also asked about their future plans for the working environment and what they attach particular importance to. In addition, the study looks at how the home office is set up and examines the question of how high the costs for an office workstation can be.
