Tips: How to design a small balcony

Even if the balcony of the apartment measures only a few square meters, it can quickly become a popular place with the right design and organization. After all, just because the balcony is small, it does not mean that you can not relax, barbecue and eat here. First of all, it is important to think about the purpose for which the balcony will be used. After all, compared to a large balcony, which can be divided into different areas, a small balcony should have a clear focus.

The question arises whether the balcony should be used mainly as a vegetable and fruit garden or provide a cozy leisure oasis for sunbathing and relaxing. It is also extremely popular to turn the balcony into a cooking, barbecue and dining area. If you choose the latter, you can attach a space-saving balcony grill on the railing. A folding small dining table, a so-called half table or a hanging table, also attached to the railing, will find enough space even on small balconies. With balcony chairs or a bench you have the right seating right away and the balcony is so quickly transformed into a small mini kitchen.

A corner shelf for outdoor use and balcony chests provide storage space for barbecue accessories and at the same time provide a seating area. If you want to make your balcony more of a small chill-out corner and invite people to drink coffee, place a small side table on it and lay out cozy low seat cushions, known as poufs. These come in a variety of materials such as felt, leather or knit. On a deck chair, a collapsible beach lounger, it can be wonderfully relaxing. Sufficient sun protection with low space consumption offers half-round umbrella stands with half-round sunshades, sun sails and awnings.
