Diary: Document the construction of the house online

A free template for a construction diary - created on the Internet as a construction blog - is offered to interested parties by the Association of Private Builders (VPB). With the help of the Baublog, which is created via the blogger service https://www.blogger.com, private builders in particular get the opportunity to document house construction - either for fun or to record relevant information about it. According to the VPB, the construction diary can also be used to reconstruct the causes of problems and defects.

The prerequisite for this is that it is meticulously kept and provided with explanations and photo documentation. For example, building owners should note the date, time and persons present at construction site appointments. When taking photos, care should be taken to first record the overall situation and then to photograph details. It is important for the detail shots that a folding rule is visible on them and that they can still be assigned to the correct part of the building later.

Photos of pipes and lines that are no longer visible later can also be helpful and possibly even prevent consequential damage. The explanations and photos can then be transferred to the construction blog. This can even be helpful in the event of disputes. However, the VPB advises not to publish and comment on details that may be important with regard to legal disputes, but to obtain information in advance in person from a VPB consultant or expert.
