Strategy paper: "Vision, Innovation, Conversion. Rethinking construction"

A new strategy paper on "Vision, Innovation, Reconstruction. Rethinking building" was recently adopted at the Ettersberg Dialogue. Three demands are made in the strategy paper. First: "Vision - rethinking the built future", second: "Innovation - promoting and anchoring smart ideas" and third: "Conversion - responsibility for the further development of the existing stock".

In the first point, those responsible call for a rethinking of construction and a cross-disciplinary change. Suggestions for this include the preservation of biodiversity, a reduction in land sealing and the progress of digitalization for a sustainable construction industry. The second point relates to resource-saving construction. Research must be promoted, start-up funding provided and economic incentives created.

The third point calls for existing properties to be better focused on in regulatory, subsidy and tax policy. For a successful construction industry in the long term, those responsible call for targeted investments and reliable framework conditions as a basis for sustainable investment decisions. The complete strategy paper can be viewed at bundesstiftung-baukultur.de. The Ettersberg Dialogue is organized annually by the Federal Foundation for Building Culture and its sponsoring association. It is attended by decision-makers from the construction, housing and real estate industries, among others.
