Study: Thermal energy storage

In a study entitled "Thermal Energy Storage for Neighborhoods," the German Energy Agency (dena) compares different energy storage technologies. The study concludes that thermal storage systems can be economically integrated into neighborhood projects and contribute to a climate-neutral energy supply.

Among other things, measures for energy efficiency in buildings as well as plants using renewable energies in heating networks or power-to-heat plants in combination with thermal storage systems can make a contribution to climate neutrality. Power-to-heat plants are based on the principle of directly converting active electrical power into heat.

With the study, dena's managers want to address various target groups and draw attention to best-practice examples. In addition to private individuals, the study is thus aimed at those responsible in trade and industry, among others. The study, which also includes information on the recyclability of plants, can be viewed on dena's homepage (dena.de).
