Hydrogen: will it soon be possible to produce the energy carrier at home?

How can hydrogen be used more easily as an energy source for private homes and small businesses? This is currently being researched by a team at Frankfurt University of Applied Science. The aim is to store CO2-neutral energy and counter fluctuations in the electricity supply. The first phase of the project ("Smart tank device for hydrogen") focused on basic research and the construction of a smart tank device on a laboratory scale. The idea is that the tank device can be used to produce hydrogen easily at home, for example using your own solar power. In the second phase of the project ("H2compress - Compressor station for green hydrogen"), a hydrogen device is being built that can be used in garages or basements. The background to the research approach is that hydrogen is not freely available as an energy source, but must first be produced at great expense. The project is headed by Prof. Dr. Enno Wagner. In addition to the researchers, project partners Gaskatel GmbH from Kassel and Sera Hydrogen GmbH from Immenhausen are also involved. The project is funded by the state of Hesse.
