The Agency for Municipal Climate Protection recently began advising municipalities on energy and climate protection. Among other things, local authorities can obtain advice on funding opportunities and help with applications. They can also obtain specific information on the e-cargo bike directive, for example. The agency operates nationwide.
"Cities, districts and municipalities are key players in achieving climate protection targets. We support municipalities in making the best possible use of their existing climate protection potential. With the Agency for Municipal Climate Protection, we are providing municipalities with a strong partner that supports them in the transformation to greenhouse gas neutrality on site with information, advice and networking services," said Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Robert Habeck.
The agency acts on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. It is the successor to the Service and Competence Center for Municipal Climate Protection and continues to be based at the German Institute of Urban Affairs. The financing costs amount to a total of around 21 million euros. The funding comes from the National Climate Protection Initiative. The agency's contract runs until March 2028.
