Semi-detached house: BDF points out advantages

The Bundesverband Deutscher Fertigbau (BDF) points out the advantages of buying semi-detached houses. The advantages are, for example, the lower construction and land costs and low energy costs compared to single-family homes. The reasons for this are that the construction and land costs are shared by two parties and that semi-detached houses are built in a particularly energy-efficient way, according to the BDF.

Land area can also be saved by building a semi-detached house. In addition, according to the BDF, semi-detached houses can now often be designed individually instead of asymmetrically as in the past, provided the development plan allows it. Not only is it possible to create two different residential units on the inside, but even the façade design and roof shape can differ.

According to the BDF, manufacturers of prefabricated timber houses are registering lively interest in semi-detached houses. As a result, they have already developed special floor plans and architectural concepts. "They show family homes that can be built affordably and individually despite high land prices and rising interest rates and are also particularly energy-efficient and future-proof," says BDF Managing Director Achim Hannott.
