Energy: saving costs in the home office

How can employees save energy when working from home? The Consumer Advice Center for Energy is looking into this question. It points out that, according to estimates, electricity consumption can increase by around five percent due to the regular use of laptops, desk lamps and electric stoves, among other things. The additional costs amount to around 30 cents to 1 euro per day. Heating costs must also be taken into account.

To save energy and therefore costs, consumers should identify power guzzlers and replace them. Appliances that are not in use should be switched off completely and not put into standby mode. This is because they also consume electricity in stand-by mode. The room temperature can also be lowered. According to the consumer advice center, every degree less reduces heating energy consumption by six degrees.

Owners can also ensure low heating energy consumption in the long term with optimum insulation.
