Energy: solar panels from the printer

Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZ Jülich), Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology are currently investigating how innovative printable solar panels can be used in the future. To this end, they recently launched the "Solar Technology Acceleration Platform for emerging Photovoltaics" (Solar TAP innovation platform).

The aim is to work with partners from industry to find solutions for photovoltaics that offer multiple benefits. Among other things, FZ Jülich is considering the use in the transport sector. In this way, electric cars could be supplied with electricity in a decentralized and mobile manner.

New technologies are also expected for agriculture and the building sector. The innovative printable solar panels can be applied to materials such as plastic, glass or metal. The parties involved want to make the solutions available to interested parties as quickly as possible.
