The German Engineering Prize 2022 was recently awarded to the Stuttgart-based firm "sbp - schlaich bergermann partner" for the light rail bridge in Stuttgart-Degerloch at a ceremony. "The winning project, the light rail bridge in Stuttgart Degerloch, is characterized by an imaginative design that strengthens public transport in a major city," said Federal Building Minister Klara Geywitz in advance. The German Engineering Prize is endowed with 30,000 euros.
In addition, ifb frohloff staffa kühl ecker from Berlin were awarded 5,000 euros each for their bicycle parking garage as a timber construction in Eberswalde, Konstruktionsgruppe Bauen AG from Kempten for the restoration of the listed stamped concrete bridge/Illerbrücke in Illerbeuren and Prof. Feix Ingenieure GmbH from Munich for the reinforcement in block 34 of the Altstadtringtunnel Munich during ongoing traffic. The planning consortium Lechsteg, Mayr Ludescher Partner and DKFS Architects received a prize of 3,000 euros for the Lady Herkomer footbridge in Landsberg am Lech.
The German Engineering Award is a state prize and, according to the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction, is the most important prize for civil engineers in Germany.
