House building: Bank provides tips for saving

In order to save as many costs as possible, PDS Bank Nord advises builders to plan well and provides them with tips. For example, builders should make sure that the plot is already developed when they buy it. Otherwise, the costs for utilities, sewage and cable lines will be added to the price.

Builders could also save costs if they only plan a house with the necessary living space. According to the bank, the guideline is that every additional square meter increases the construction costs by around 1,500 euros. Entrance areas, corridors and stairwells, for example, offer opportunities to save on the number of square meters.

Builders could also save money by not building a basement. However, they should think carefully in advance about whether they need a cellar or not. If there is no cellar, there must be sufficient storage space in the rest of the house. If necessary, a utility room or garage must be planned.
