The energy advice service of the consumer advice center provides tips on how owners and tenants can prevent the formation of mould through correct heating and ventilation. After showering, cooking or sleeping, the property should first be completely aired out. Afterwards, the energy advice from the consumer advice center recommends leaving the windows ajar for two to three hours.
In this way, so-called sorption moisture, which is also found in towels, mattresses and blankets, for example, can also escape. If the owners or tenants close the windows again after the specified period, the energy loss is also limited. This ventilation also has a greater drying effect than airing the room three times a day.
The consumer advice center also recommends keeping the doors between different rooms closed. The reason for this is that different temperatures often prevail there and humid air should not get into cooler rooms. This could lead to mold growth.
