KfW points out which aspects owners must pay attention to when insulating facades and installing solar shading with regard to funding opportunities. For example, the application for funding must be submitted before construction companies and tradesmen are commissioned. Contracts for planning, on the other hand, can be awarded in advance, for example to energy efficiency experts.
In addition, when insulating detached or semi-detached houses, for example, owners must find out from the Building Energy Act (GEG) how efficient the insulation must be and determine what type of insulation should be used. According to KfW, a distinction is made between core or blown-in insulation, a thermal insulation system and a rear-ventilated curtain wall.
Solar shading can also be subsidized by KfW if owners comprehensively renovate their house to make it more energy efficient. However, according to KfW, they must meet the requirements for an Efficiency House 85 or Efficiency House Monument.
