In view of the energy price crisis and the increased demand for stoves and fireplaces, the energy advice service of the consumer advice center has compiled important aspects for dealing with them. For example, it points out that every fireplace must be approved by a chimney sweep. If this is not done, there is an increased risk of flue gas poisoning and fires, according to the consumer advice center.
Users should also find out about the correct heating method. Logs need to dry over a longer period of one to two years before they can be used. If this does not happen, they not only heat less efficiently, but also release a lot of environmental pollutants during combustion, according to energy advice from the consumer advice center.
Stoves and fireplaces are also associated with soot, pollutants and fine dust pollution. Anyone wishing to purchase a stove or fireplace should therefore obtain comprehensive information in advance and can, for example, choose a model with a dust and fine dust filter that is certified according to the criteria of the "Blue Angel" eco-label.
