Kitchen: Decorating with accessories and plants

Accessories and plants can create a homely atmosphere in a kitchen. Volker Irle, Managing Director of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Die Moderne Küche (AMK), points this out. For example, cookbooks, mementos and bottles of wine, oil or vinegar can be placed on open shelving systems to create a decorative effect.

For example, lettering relating to the theme of cooking is ideal for decorating kitchen walls. Wooden or acrylic letters or wall tattoos can be chosen for these. Chalkboards, posters and wall clocks can also be used as wall decorations.

Easy-care herbs or robust houseplants such as succulents or Ficus Benjamini also beautify the kitchen. They can be integrated into recesses in the worktop or displayed in hanging plant pots and open metal and glass shelves.
