The German Furniture Quality Association (DGM) points out that customers who want to buy particularly high-quality furniture can look out for the RAL "Golden M" quality mark. This mark is awarded to furniture that is particularly durable, safe, functional, healthy and environmentally friendly.
Before they receive the quality mark, they are extensively tested according to the DGM. They are tested in a test laboratory at a temperature of 23 degrees. This temperature corresponds to the average room temperature in German homes. In the test laboratory, machines not only generate a humidity level of 50 percent, but also mimic the stresses to which the furniture is exposed.
In addition, the furniture is subjected to chemical tests and tests for harmful substances in the test laboratory to ensure health and environmental compatibility. Furniture with the RAL quality mark must pass all tests. According to the DGM, the test criteria for children's furniture are particularly strict. The spacing of the bars on children's beds, for example, is not only a question of quality, but also of safety.
