Argenthal is a local community in the Rhine-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Simmern-Rheinböllen.

Argenthal is located at the northwestern edge of the Soonwald, a part of the Hunsrück that is up to 657 m high and belongs to the Rhenish Slate Mountains.

The residential areas Birkenhof, Eckelhornerhof, Weidenhof, Forsthaus Ellern, Forsthaus Thiergarten, Haus am Waldsee, Jägerhof and Wacholderhof belong to Argenthal.

With an area of 28.52 km², 19.85 km² of which is forest (Soonwald), the Argenthal district is the second largest in the Rhine-Hunsrück district after Boppard (source: State Statistical Office, as of December 31, 2007). Larger villages in the neighborhood are Simmern in the west and Rheinböllen in the east.

The highest elevation of Argenthal is the Opel with 649.3 m above sea level. On the territory of the municipality is the Waldsee, this bathing water originated from an ore mine closed in 1935.
