A training course in Erfurt and Dresden will soon show how residential buildings can be adapted to the summer heat. The Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER), in cooperation with the Thuringian Housing and Real Estate Association and the Association of Saxon Housing Cooperatives, is offering corresponding seminars under the motto "Heat adaptation in existing housing stock: effective, cost-efficient, upgrading".
Using the example of various building types that are widespread in central Germany, the speakers will show the weak points of the buildings and the effects that long periods of heat can have on the indoor climate. They will also show how the buildings can be adapted effectively, economically and in a climate-friendly way - for example by changing the building structure or the building technology. They will also talk about what residents can do on hot summer days to prevent living spaces from heating up so much.
The seminars are aimed at employees of cooperative and municipal housing companies who are responsible for construction planning, maintenance or property management, for example. The seminar in Erfurt will take place on Thursday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mitteldeutsche Fachakademie der Immobilienwirtschaft, Regierungsstraße 58. Registration closes on Monday, May 9. The seminar in Dresden will be held from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on the premises of the Verband Sächsischer Wohnungsgenossenschaften, Antonstraße 37. The cost of the seminars ranges from 60 to 190 euros.
