Modular concepts are currently the trend in upholstered furniture. The Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM) points this out. The furniture is particularly flexible. For example, elements can be rearranged and redesigned. This is possible, for example, with sofas with several movable elements, chairs with interchangeable legs or sofas that can be upholstered in different fabrics.
The furniture should not only be easy to take with you when you move, but should also be particularly sustainable. According to VDM, many suppliers are currently looking for renewable, ecologically valuable raw materials that are suitable for interiors. The shape of furniture is no longer necessarily classically straight; furniture can now also be shaped differently. This so-called amorphous shape can be found in sofas and poufs, for example.
In terms of fabrics, bouclé is currently in and corduroy remains popular. In terms of colors, gray, natural and earth tones are among the choices, although the color nuances are now becoming a little lighter. According to VDM, the colors light and medium grey as well as off-white and beige are now in vogue.
