More than one in two Germans (55 percent) dream of owning a vacation home, and around 40 percent have already actively considered buying one. These are the findings of a study conducted by the market research institute Ipsos on behalf of VillaCircle. Almost half of Germans would like to fulfill their dream of owning a vacation home in Germany or another European country.
The approximately 40 percent of respondents who have already considered purchasing a property can be broken down into the following categories: 8 percent already own a vacation home, 17 percent are looking for one and 16 percent have already rejected the idea of owning a vacation home. The 17 percent of Germans who are looking have not yet found a suitable vacation property for various reasons: They do not have sufficient equity, the region was not yet a good fit or the legal and tax rules are too complex.
Außerdem stört es die Suchenden auch, wenn sie die Ferienimmobilie nicht vermieten können, sie hohe laufende Kosten haben oder mit dem Erwerb Verwaltungsarbeit einhergeht. Die von VillaCircle in Auftrag gegebene Studie wurde im März 2022 durchgeführt und liefert auch Aufschluss über ein sogenanntes Miteigentumskonzept.
