Water: how to use it consciously

How can water be saved in private households? Energy expert Stefan Materne from the consumer advice center gives advice. For example, consumers can save up to 70 percent water by turning off the tap while soaping their hands or brushing their teeth.

You can also save water if you replace bathing with showering and use an economy shower head. However, economy shower heads are not suitable for instantaneous water heaters. The reason for this is that the normal flow pressure must be maintained for trouble-free operation.

Water can also be saved in the kitchen. For example, fruit and vegetables can be washed in a bowl filled with water instead of under running water. Up to 31 liters of water can also be saved if a fully loaded dishwasher is used instead of washing dishes by hand.
