The Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM) sees growth potential for its activities on the North American market. "The market offers interesting growth opportunities for our manufacturers not only in stationary sales, but also in the online channel," says Jan Kurth, Managing Director of the German Furniture Industry Association (VDM/VHK).
These assumptions are based on a study on the North American furniture market with a focus on online sales, which was commissioned by VDM from management consultants Conneum and Modenus Media. According to study author Elmar Stumpf from Conneum, high-quality furniture is particularly in demand in North America. "In addition, the modern, minimalist furnishing style that characterizes German furniture is becoming increasingly popular in North America," says co-author Veronika Miller from Modenus Media.
According to the VDM, the United States is the most important export market for the German furniture industry outside of Europe. In the first half of 2022, German furniture worth 145 million euros was exported to the USA. According to the VDM, this is almost 26% more than in the same period last year. In order to expand contacts, VDM members take part in events such as "KBIS - The Kitchen & Bath Industry Show", the largest kitchen trade fair in the USA.
