In the new "Home Report 2022" from the Zukunftsinstitut, housing expert and futurologist Oona Horx-Strathern sheds light on the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on living space. She has identified and summarized three different trends. She calls them "Conscious Kitchen", "FurNEARtur" and "modular furniture".
The "Conscious Kitchen" trend means that the kitchen is becoming more appreciated. Working from home means that flexible solutions such as movable partitions are being used. This allows work and private life to be better separated. When it comes to furniture, many are focusing on sustainability, regional raw materials and locally sourced products. Due to the proximity, this trend in furniture is referred to as "FurNEARtur" in the Home Report.
There is also demand for "modular furniture" that can be extended, reduced in size and used in different environments as required. Sustainability also plays an important role here. Oona Horx-Strathern also sees playful, colorful and unusually shaped furniture as a trend. The Home Report is available for 150 euros from the zukunftsinstitut.de website.
