In order to improve climate protection, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is planning to implement various immediate measures in the near future. There are to be innovations with regard to the EEG amendment, solar energy, wind energy, the electricity price, climate protection contracts with industry, the heating strategy, building standards and subsidies and hydrogen energy, among other things.
The plan is to use the EEG to set the course for 80% renewable electricity generation by 2030. In the case of solar energy, a so-called solar acceleration package is to ensure that all suitable roof surfaces are equipped with solar energy, among other things. The expansion of wind energy is also planned, without neglecting species protection. The EEG levy on electricity is to be abolished and consumers are to be relieved as a result.
For industry, the conclusion of climate protection agreements and the promotion of climate-neutral production processes are planned. With regard to the heating strategy, the government wants to work towards decarbonization, i.e. reducing carbon dioxide emissions with low-carbon energy sources. A revision of the Building Energy Act is also planned. This means that by 2025, every newly installed heating system is to be operated on the basis of at least 65% renewable energy. With regard to the hydrogen strategy, new funding programs are planned, among other things.
