The North Rhine-Westphalia consumer advice center has summarized in a press release what will change in 2022 in terms of energy, the environment and housing. Among other things, consumers will have to expect higher heating costs. This is due to the CO2 price, which has risen from 25 euros per tonne to 30 euros per tonne of CO2.
Consumers will be able to terminate energy supply contracts concluded from March 1, 2022 more quickly. The notice period will then only be one month instead of three months. The consumer advice center emphasizes that consumers will thus be "better protected against excessively long contract terms and notice periods".
The consumer advice center would also like to point out that funding for new builds to the Efficiency House Standard 55 is coming to an end. Applications for these must be received by KfW by January 31, 2022 at the latest. From February 1, 2022, only the new-build standards Efficiency House 40, Efficiency House 40 Renewable Energy Class or Sustainability Class and Efficiency House 40 Plus will be eligible for funding according to the Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings (BEG).
