The "Home Ownership for Families" (WEF) funding program from the Federal Ministry of Building (BMWSB) was launched at the beginning of June. The aim of the funding program is to make it easier for families with low and medium incomes to dream of owning their own home. Families can obtain loans at reduced interest rates from financing partners, such as their house bank or savings bank.
According to the BMWSB, families should be able to save up to 30,000 euros by building a climate-friendly home thanks to the low-interest loans. The funding program only supports new buildings with a low CO2 footprint that are built to the Efficiency House 40 standard (EH 40) and fall below specific limits for greenhouse gas emissions.
It is aimed at families with underage children and a maximum taxable annual income of 60,000 euros. According to the BMWSB, 75 percent of households in Germany could be eligible to apply, citing a calculation by the Federal Ministry of Finance. Further information: bmwsb.bund.de
