Project: Development of a standard timber construction system

Wismar University of Applied Sciences, the Technical University of Braunschweig, the German Timber Industry Association (HDH) and Haas Fertigbau GmbH want to jointly develop an open standard timber construction system for public buildings by the end of 2024. According to the Agency for Renewable Resources, this will be a standard timber construction system that will enable planners and small to medium-sized carpentry and timber construction companies to participate in public tenders.

One of the aims of the standard timber construction system is to speed up the planning, approval and construction processes for public buildings and to optimize processes and buildings. The project runs through three stages: development, application and establishment. Among other things, digital prototypes are to be created, construction catalogs developed and a web-based information portal "Standard-Holzbausysteme+nR" created.

The data from the project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture via the Renewable Resources funding program, will subsequently be made available to the public - including via a guide, publications and seminars. Further information on the project is available on the website kiwhu.de.
