Check: functionality of the photovoltaic system at the beginning of spring

Anyone who owns a photovoltaic system should make sure that it is checked regularly to guarantee its functionality and to achieve maximum electricity yields. Especially at the beginning of spring, when the sun shines longer, owners should therefore carry out a solar system check and have the system and battery storage checked.

Major damage caused, for example, by snow and hail, frost and ice in winter should be checked and repaired by an expert. In addition, the expert will check, among other things, whether the system is properly fastened and whether the electrical connections are functioning properly. An expert should also take care of the cleaning of larger soiling caused by foliage infestation or contamination by birds. In this context, it is also a good idea to have the electricity storage system inspected. The costs for cleaning and repairs are tax deductible.

Homeowners can easily check for themselves whether the solar system actually suffered damage during the fall and winter months. With a monitoring system, yield data as well as the performance of the solar system can be transferred to digital platforms. Using a smartphone or computer, the homeowner can read the data and compare it with the previous year's values or average values. Deviating values indicate a defect; a warning message indicates when the system is not functioning properly.
