The "Zukunft ERDGAS" initiative of the German natural gas industry conducted a Forsa survey in December 2019 to find out how much natural gas will be needed to generate energy in Germany in the coming years. More than 1,007 citizens were surveyed for the poll. The majority of respondents see natural gas as a fundamental producer of energy. Around 74 percent of respondents believe that natural gas will continue to play a fundamental role in the generation of energy in the future.
More than half of the respondents even believe that the generation of energy will increase, according to the results of the market and opinion research institute Forsa. Likewise, the survey results show that natural gas, together with solar and wind energy, is the best producer of green energy. This opinion is shared by around 45 of the respondents.
The Forsa survey also shows that for more than three quarters of respondents, affordability plays the most important role when choosing an energy producer. Equally important are the points of security and reliability in energy supply. For 42 percent of respondents, environmental protection and sustainability play a decisive role.
