The Association of Private Building Owners (VPB) advises residents of a house or apartment with health complaints to carry out an interior analysis. Qualified interior hygienists can use this to examine whether and which pollutants are present in the interior of the house and eliminate them with the help of an elaborated remediation concept.
This is because different chemical compounds in the house, heavy metals, dusts, odors, fungi, bacteria or other physical and biological aspects can cause health complaints among residents. Especially after a new construction or interior renovation, pollutants in the air may not properly reach the outside through an insulated building envelope if ventilation is inadequate. Therefore, for example, the formation of moisture, volatile organic compounds caused by paints, varnishes and adhesives or by non-ionizing radiation as well as radon must be counteracted from the very beginning.
In order to provide information on the topics of "Healthy Living and Building" and to promote the well-being and health of residents, the VPB has published the free guidebook "Healthy Building" for builders, property buyers and owners, and residents. Likewise, a comprehensive brochure on the topic of "Healthy Building and Living" is available in the VPB's online store. In the publications, interested parties receive an overview of possible danger spots as well as helpful tips on how they can promote their living quality and state of health.
