Turf for the garden

Especially if you have a small garden, it is worth thinking about laying a sod. After all, a sod is already sown and the blades of grass sprout lush green. The cost of materials for a rolled lawn, including delivery, is about five to seven euros per square meter. Thus, for a 50-square-meter garden, a price of about 300 euros can be expected. If the turf is to be laid by specialist personnel on delivery, the price per square meter rises to around seven to ten euros.

It is important that the area is well prepared before the collection or delivery of the turf. After all, sod can spoil quickly and therefore must be laid out in the garden no more than one and a half days after its harvest. In the case of new construction, the garden soil must first be loosened before laying out the sod. This is because it is usually heavily compacted by construction work with heavy machinery. If the new sod is to be replaced by an existing lawn, the old sod must be completely removed and freed from stones and roots before delivery.

If the garden soil is clayey, it is recommended to mix building sand into the soil. This makes it more permeable to air and water. With a rolled lawn fertilizer and a lawn roller, the soil receives important nutrients and is brought to the ideal density. If you want to lay the delivered turf yourself, you should make sure that the rolls are first stored in the shade and that the soil is lightly watered. Lengthwise, the rolls of turf can now be laid out little by little. It is important that there are no gaps. It is recommended to order a little more rolled lawn area, because the natural product can sometimes be shorter and sometimes longer. The best seasons for laying sod are spring or autumn. In hot temperatures in the summer, the turf is not well laid.
