Anyone who has a garden and wants to build a terrace should not only attach great importance to a visually suitable, but also weatherproof and slip-resistant flooring. A terrace floor made of natural stone not only looks elegant, but due to its roughened surface is particularly slip and abrasion resistant, durable and weatherproof. However, a floor made of natural stone, such as marble, granite, quartzite, limestone or sandstone, is also very expensive. A cheaper, but still sure-footed and weather-resistant variant offers a terrace floor made of concrete.
A wooden terrace floor creates a particularly cozy and homely ambience. Woods such as Douglas fir or Bankirai are particularly well suited for outdoor use. It should be noted, however, that a wooden floor requires a particularly high level of care in order to be protected against rot and fungus caused by moisture, as well as against fading due to the effects of the sun. For this reason, a wooden floor must be treated with a weatherproof glaze at regular intervals. An alternative is a terrace floor made of a wood-plastic mixture (WPC). The advantage over wooden boards is that the plastic content in WPC boards repels water and does not warp or splinter.
