What floor in ground level showers?

Level showers in the bathroom enjoy great popularity. They provide safety, freedom of movement and a modern look. In the bathroom design of many new properties, level-access showers are gaining acceptance, and even in older existing properties, a barrier-free bathroom can be retrofitted. There are three systems of walk-in showers: a shower tray, a tiled shower element or a sloped screed with shower channel.

A shower tray is not only the most affordable option, but also requires little effort during installation. Numerous manufacturers offer shower trays in different shapes and sizes. The advantages of a shower tray are that it is easy to seal. In addition, if there are problems with the drain, a shower tray can be easily dismantled. In terms of price, the use of a shower tray is in the cheaper range. The cost of a shower floor at ground level is around 1,000 to 1,500 euros for a size of 120 x 120 centimeters. Prefabricated shower elements are less expensive.

Tiled shower floor offers the possibility to equip the entire bathroom with tiles at once and visually enlarge the space. Tiled shower elements are provided with a slope, so that the water can flow off well and easily. The drain is located either in the center or in a corner of the shower element. Whether rectangular, pentagonal or quarter-circle floors, tiled elements can be installed in all sizes and are priced in the middle range. The most costly option is walk-in showers made of sloped screed with shower channel. With a non-slip surface, a wide selection of colors and decors, and individual design options, the drain can also be installed where desired or a handicapped-accessible design can be realized. In combination with underfloor heating, the bathroom becomes a real oasis of peace and comfort.
