A wooden house offers a good alternative to a house made of concrete and also brings other advantages. Especially houses made of solid wood look noble and convince with their robustness and durability. As a building element, solid wood has a high static load capacity and contributes to environmental protection through its CO2-reducing nature. Solid wood also independently regulates humidity, which contributes to a healthy indoor climate and a high quality of living.
Regardless of whether the walls of a wooden house are single-shell or multi-shell, solid wood has excellent natural insulating properties. Thus, thanks to a high surface temperature, the inhabitants not only feel comfortable in the interior of the house already at two degrees outside temperature, but also can enjoy the low heating costs in winter. In summer, on the other hand, the walls keep the outside heat from entering the house and guarantee summer thermal protection.
The German Solid Wood and Log House Association (DMBV) points out, based on scientific research and study results, that a wooden house is not exposed to any increased fire risk. Medical studies also show that living in a residential house has a calming effect on the residents and counteracts stress symptoms, such as palpitations or high blood pressure. Likewise, solid wood as a building material contains no harmful ingredients, which contributes to healthy living. Wooden houses with an RAL quality mark also stand for high quality and construction.
