Those who have a balcony in their apartment are interested in having enough privacy outdoors. With a suitable balcony cladding residents protect themselves from prying eyes from the outside and also provide sufficient wind protection. Basically, a distinction is made between two types of balcony cladding. While one type of cladding is installed directly during balcony construction, the other can also be attached to the balcony afterwards.
If the cladding is built into the balcony parapet from the outset, builders usually use sturdy materials such as wood, metal or glass panels. These are screwed to the handrail and a frame and together form not only a cladding, but also the entire balcony parapet. If the balcony cladding is only attached later, fabric panels, raffia mats, plastic tarpaulins or privacy mats made of wood or bamboo are usually used.
When choosing materials, make sure that the cladding harmoniously fit into the appearance of the house. With plastic ropes and fastening loops made of plastic, wire or cable ties, the mats, fabric panels or tarpaulins are attached to the balcony railing. It is important that the balcony cladding does not extend above the top edge of the balcony parapet. Another advantage is that a subsequently attached balcony cladding can be easily removed when moving and can be reattached in the new apartment.
