Home style & interior design: country style

There are many different styles of living: one of them is the country style, which through the choice of furniture and interior design reminds of a life in the country or a vacation in an old country house. Nostalgia, rusticity and coziness are just a few attributes that country house lovers associate with this style of living. However, stylistically there are great differences, depending on which country is to serve as a model for the interior design.

For example, an English country house radiates a certain heaviness and durability through the use of dark woods and wall paneling, looks durable and set. Dark brown leather armchairs and sofas in country or colonial style are characteristic in the interior. Plaid or flowered fabric covers give the English-style country house a very personal touch. If, on the other hand, you are oriented to the Scandinavian country houses, light colors and woods are in the foreground. Often the wooden furniture is painted white, a light wooden floor gives the rooms even more lightness and naturalness. The dominant color in the textiles is blue, the fabrics used are plaid, in striped as well as in floral patterns.

If you think of a Mediterranean country style, you think first and foremost of a finca. Floor tiles, mosaic decorations, ceramics and warm earth tones are just some of the attributes of this style of living and furnishing. Also typical are pure concrete walls made of rough plaster, which are characterized by unevenness and may also appear somewhat dirty. Beige and terracotta colored walls radiate coziness and warmth. The French-style country house looks romantic and playful: curved shapes, pastel colors and natural materials such as wood and stone as well as cotton and linen emphasize the playful style just as much as the use of wickerwork or wrought-iron furniture.
