Tip: pipe cleaning and rehabilitation

To prevent clogged pipes or pipe bursts, the pipe system should be checked and cleaned regularly. Special tools can be used to remove limescale deposits that stick to the pipes. Other particles, such as food residues or toilet paper, must also be removed to prevent blockages in the drains. It is essential to ensure that the structure of the inner walls of the pipes remains undamaged.

If the pipes are not treated, they can burst over time and cause major damage to the building. Simple home remedies can already lay the foundation for free pipes. A mixture of baking soda or baking powder with vinegar ensures that deposits in the pipe are removed. At best, this cleaning mixture should be carried out at regular intervals. If you add table salt, the cleaning effect is intensified and the pipes remain free.

If the damage to the pipe is so severe that pipe rehabilitation is necessary, it must still be cleaned first. Especially in the case of a drinking water pipe, the cleaning must meet high standards. The pipes are then sealed with a synthetic resin. But other rehabilitation methods can also be considered. For example, in the so-called tube system, the pipes are not sealed, but a completely new pipe is generated in the wastewater pipe using the tube liner method (also known as the inliner method). This creates a double protective function: the old pipe is rehabilitated and a new, intact pipe is introduced.
