The hallway is as much a part of the apartment and thus of one's own home as the living room, dining room and bedroom. However, it is often treated merely as a passageway or as a storage room. Actually surprising, considering that a hallway is the first room you enter in your own home. To avoid interior design mistakes and give the corridor the same charm as the rest of the apartment, there are numerous tips that can create a more feel-good atmosphere in no time.
First of all, you should create space in the hallway and say goodbye to bulky furniture. Because overhanging shoe cabinets and crammed wardrobes quickly make the room look crowded and chaotic. Better suited are narrow cabinets, long wall boards and chic coat hooks. A floor laid lengthwise visually enlarges the space. The wall color should also be well-chosen. Light colors have a friendly effect. The hallway looks particularly calm and harmonious if the doors are also painted or varnished to match the wall. Color accents give the room a personal touch.
Lighting also plays an important role. While the ceiling light should only be used for cleaning, indirect and diffuse light sources give a cozy ambience and visually create more depth in the room. A small seating area not only helps with putting on shoes, but also provides plenty of living room atmosphere. When it comes to storing things, a closed and modern storage system comes into play. However, the basis for this is to sort out unused clothes and items and keep only what you really need. Autumn and winter jackets, as well as shoes, belong in the spring and summer stowed and not in the homey and inviting hallway.
