The German Energy Agency's (dena) current flagship study, "The Dawn of Climate Neutrality - A Look at the Workshop," serves as a foundation on the path to climate neutrality. By signing the Paris Climate Agreement, Germany has committed itself to being largely climate neutral by 2050. Achieving this goal requires not only individual steps and measures in business, politics and society. It also requires a complete rethink and even a complete transformation of the entire energy and economic system.
The lead study contains initial investigations and findings of the current situation, from which central fields of action are elaborated and presented. Numerous players from business and science as well as from politics and society are participating in the study. A total of 70 project partners are working together. Thanks to a specially established project advisory board and the findings of six recognized institutes, which also act as experts, the lead study makes a representative contribution to the current climate situation. At the same time, it offers initial approaches to solutions and recommendations for action on the road to climate neutrality.
The analyses of the study take place in four different sectors. These include the energy industry, buildings, industry and transport sectors. At the same time, experts are developing solutions in the so-called cross-cutting modules 1 to 3. The topics of the cross-cutting modules are energy market design, transformation, and the economy and Europe. The solutions identified are intended to be effective for all sectors in the long term. The final report of the study is to be published in the fall of 2021. The study is being funded by participating partners from the private sector and dena.
