Style of living: Maritime home

If you want to bring a touch of vacation home, you can furnish and decorate your living room or even your whole apartment in a maritime style. The dominant colors in this interior style are blue and red and a lot of white. Shades like water blue, cloudy white and sand and wood colors reflect the natural environment and bring the feeling of nature right into your home. Copper, gold, a clear yellow as well as a rich green also set beautiful accents in the maritime living room.

When choosing furniture, the effect can be a little rougher. Furniture, chests of drawers and cabinets made of wood have a maritime effect especially if the wood is untreated or has some traces of use in vintage style. Even traces of use in the varnish or small cracks reminiscent of driftwood give the maritime living room a very special look. Where it fits, fishing nets and ropes, linen or cotton can be used and make the room reminiscent of the maritime way of life and give the feeling of the sea, ships, fishermen and sailors.

A wall painted blue is just as calming as a blue sofa. If you prefer to be reminded of a beach day instead of the seafaring atmosphere and coastal look, combine the colors with delicate pastel shades. A rocking chair, a vase of loosely arranged flowers, stones, woods or shells are wonderful details that give a perfect beach feeling and bring the coastal atmosphere into the living room.
