Volker Irle, managing director of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Die Moderne Küche (AKM), advises this. Because according to AKM there are numerous designs, materials and possibilities, with which a buyer can lose fast the overview. For example, there are worktops made of laminate, wood, natural stone, ceramics, stainless steel, glass and high-tech and mineral materials.
All materials have different properties. For example, laminate and ceramic countertops are available in many variants. Countertops made of wood are very beautiful to look at with their feel and grain. Countertops made of natural stone, on the other hand, convince with a pronounced resistance. Glass countertops are also very robust and are mainly used in open kitchens.
Countertops made of high-tech materials such as Nanotech material consist of velvety soft surfaces and have anti-fingerprint properties. Buyers who opt for a countertop made of a solid surface material get a kitchen in which the countertop and sink merge seamlessly. For professional hobby chefs, on the other hand, a countertop made of stainless steel is particularly suitable, as it can withstand heat and cold, is easy to clean and thus ensures special hygiene.
