Digitization: HDB and ZIA call for modernization in construction

Creating the conditions for more digitization and less democracy in construction - this is what Tim Müller, Managing Director of the German Construction Industry Federation (HDB), and Oliver Wittke, Managing Director of the Central Real Estate Committee (ZIA), are demanding from politicians. To this end, they propose, among other things, a digital completeness check of application documents for building permit processes as well as digital 5D plans.

In their opinion, this will enable planning and construction to be more closely interlinked and facilitate the work of clients, planners and construction companies. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is also to be used. Using this method, the team can plan holistically and build precisely.

They also propose cost reduction through serial and modular construction, especially in the area of commercial real estate and administrative buildings. In this context, HDB and ZIA call for a uniform application of the model building code throughout Germany as well as cross-state type building permits.
