In order to improve climate protection, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is planning to implement various immediate measures in the near future. Among other things, there are to be innovations with regard to the EEG amendment, solar energy, wind energy, the electricity price, climate protection contracts with industry, the heating strategy, building standards and promotion, and hydrogen energy.
The plan is to use the EEG to set the course for 80 percent renewable electricity generation by 2030. In the case of solar energy, a so-called solar acceleration package is to ensure, among other things, that all suitable roof surfaces are provided with solar energy. There are also plans to expand wind energy without neglecting species protection. In the case of electricity, the EEG levy is to be abolished and consumers are to be relieved as a result.
For industry, the conclusion of climate protection agreements and the promotion of climate-neutral production processes are planned. With regard to the heating strategy, the government intends, among other things, to advocate decarbonization, i.e. using low-carbon energy sources to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, a revision of the Building Energy Act is planned. This will, among other things, require every newly installed heating system to be based on at least 65 percent renewable energy by 2025. With regard to the hydrogen strategy, new funding programs are planned, among other things.
