The University of Wismar, the Technical University of Braunschweig, the German Timber Industry Association (HDH) and Haas Fertigbau GmbH want to jointly develop an open standard timber construction system for public buildings by the end of 2024. According to the Agency for Renewable Resources, this will be a standard timber construction system that will enable planners and small to medium-sized carpentry and timber construction companies to participate in public tenders.
The aim of the standard timber construction system is, among other things, to speed up the planning, approval and construction processes for public buildings and to optimize the processes and the buildings. The project goes through three stages: development, application and establishment. Among other things, digital prototypes are to be created, construction catalogs developed and a web-based information portal "Standard Wood Construction Systems+nR" created.
The data from the project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture through the Renewable Resources Funding Program, will subsequently be made available to the public - including through a guide, publications and seminars.
