Owners would like more comprehensibility and transparency with regard to their annual statements of condominium associations. This is the result of an online survey conducted by the association "Wohnen im Eigentum" (WiE). According to WiE, the annual statements are structured and structured in an understandable and comprehensible manner for only half of the respondents, and for only 42 percent overall are they easy to understand. In addition, only 51 percent of respondents know how to check their annual statements mathematically.
However, WiE also wanted to know from the owners how the annual statements could be made more understandable for them. Fifty-six percent of respondents said that explanations, reading and interpretation aids, and generally understandable definitions of terms would be relevant to them. In addition, 86 percent of respondents consider a DIN standard for annual statements to be advantageous or necessary.
"The survey results show that many apartment owners have a very strong interest in improvements - i.e. simplifications, unifications, standardizations - in the annual statements," says Gabriele Heinrich, executive director at WiE.
