Owners or tenants who do not have space for a solar system on the roof can instead provide their balcony or terrace with a so-called plug solar device. This is now pointed out by the energy advisory service of the consumer center. These plug-in solar devices are modules measuring approximately 1.00 x 1.70 meters with an output of approximately 300 watts.
However, in order to install such a plug-in solar device, various requirements are necessary. Owners or tenants, for example, require the consent of the owners' association or the landlord. In addition, only plug-in solar devices that comply with the safety standards of the German Solar Energy Society (DGS 0001:2019-10) should be purchased. In addition, the solar devices must be registered with the property management, the local grid operator and the Federal Network Agency.
Anyone who buys a plug-in solar device with 300 watts must reckon with costs of around 500 euros, according to the consumer advice center. In addition, further costs may be incurred for installation. An appropriate plug-in solar device generates - depending on the location - 200 to 300 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
